Volume

I just can’t seem to get my volume right. In my last show I kept being reminded to “project,” yet in past shows I have not been told I have an issue. Last week my son came home and the minute he walked in the door he said he could hear me talking in the back yard (I was in the den!) I tried to tell some people something at a bar on Friday and they could not hear me, yet at a fundraiser the night before I was admonished for speaking too loudly during the live auction (over several hundred other people, music and an auctioneer!) I give up! Am I not loud enough or a hopeless loudmouth?? Do I need to practice projecting more or should I try to tone it down??

I know there are times to be loud (on stage) and times to be soft (at home.) Am I getting them mixed up?? Are the people around me having hearing issues or is it me?? Am I taking “living out loud” to a new extreme or am I being too shy and reserved?? I am so confused!
