Reasons

There are those of us who do things for all of the wrong reasons. They seek fame and fortune. They want to show others up. They want to be dominant. Then there are people who feel that way and little by little they grow and learn that some things are more important than trophies and accolades. They know what really matters. I had dinner with two people who know what really matters.

My sweet husband Tim seems to just know what is right and has always had such a sense of ethics that I always come to him when I am unsure if what I am saying or doing is too much or not right. He is the best moral compass you could have. Yes, he cusses and passes gas at the worst times, but when it counts he is the best.

My other friend has grown into his awareness and it has been a wonderful thing to watch. Especially since my Tim has had some part in my friend’s growth. Between the two of them I really had an awakening tonight. And I needed it. It isn’t about me and my abilities, it is about what I can pass on, who I can inspire and what I can show the world as a positive influence. It is not about me, or my past, but about how I (and they) can influence the future.

So I got to have a fabulous dinner, see lots of friends I have not seen in a long time (who knew it was “have dinner out night in Homewood”?!?) But above all, I got to hear from two people I love and who inspire me and build me up to try to be the best I can be- not for me but for the future. And for Him, who leads us all.
