Questions

In watching the Sunday morning news shows (which I love, mostly because I am usually alone and can yell at the TV) I have to say that this morning in particular I had questions.

Due to snow and ice, church was cancelled today. I was able to watch these shows thoroughly until the very end for a change. However, I watched them from a different perspective, since I was not in a hurry to dress and leave while only partially watching as I am usually forced to do. Here are my questions:

How much could we accomplish if no one cared who got the credit??

How do you get through to someone who only cares about himself??

Why would you admire a trait in someone else, when you would never want to have that trait yourself??

And conversely, why would you hold it against someone if they had the very trait that you claim to want to cultivate in yourself?? (i.e.- humility, empathy, compassion, humbleness?)

And lastly, do people actually listen to themselves?? Do they really believe what they are saying??

I am not sure which is scarier to me- the idea that people are just spouting rhetoric and don’t have any conviction behind the ridiculous things they say or if they actually believe these awful things.

I have no answers, I have no point, I just had questions.
