Found time

I always tell people that you can always make more money but you can never make more time. I try to live with that in mind, always budgeting my time much more carefully that I do my money. People marvel sometimes about how much I get done in a day and I always tell them I am very fortunate, God gives me 24 whole hours every single day!! And the funny thing is, I sleep 9 or 10 of those hours every night if possible! But when I am awake I never stop; I don’t take smoke breaks or coffee breaks, I don’t smoke and I have never even tasted coffee. I take three bathroom breaks a day, when I wake up, around 3:00pm and before I go to bed. Barbara Walters tells the story that that is why she is successful, because she never has to pee! When others left a story to go to the bathroom, she scooped in and got the quote because she never had to go. Well, I am her soul mate in that department. And I never sit still for very long, I am always doing something.

Lately, the running non stop has been at an all time high. Luckily, another thing I can do without is mass quantities of food. As long as I get water and my sleep I am good to go. This past week sort of showed off these talents to a new height and the next two weeks will make last week seem like a vacation.

Tim had a booth at Christmas Village this past week and it was new experience for us. It turned out to be a learning and growing experience, as everything should be. And as with everything, we attacked it as a family. All three of us worked when we could and got things done together when possible. I would go to school then head there to help until closing. We had lots of inspirational things happen that I will tell you about later when I have had time to digest them properly.

On Saturday I was there until Jon got off work on the radio show he produces and then he and I headed to the Alabama- LSU football game which was an exhausting ordeal of hard to find parking, lots of walking and a nerve wracking game! Then yesterday Jon and I worked Christmas Village until Tim was done with his job at church and then I went to be initiated into Omicron Delta Kappa, a leadership and scholarship organization. (It was really nice except that I was alone and everyone else had family there with them. It was just one of those times we needed to be able to be in two places at once!) Then I headed back to the BJCC to load up. We went out to dinner afterwards to celebrate surviving such a hectic weekend. (In case you can’t tell, we celebrate everything!)

Today was to be the beginning of two more extremely hectic weeks- I have workshops, auditions, exams, and a play to work box office for. Today I had to get new headshots because I cut my hair off and they have to be up to date by Friday. Luckily, my friend Julie has started taking photos professionally so I got her to do the shots for me. My plan was I then had to run to school for class and a meeting before coming back home to write a paper, get groceries, pay our bills and Tim’s mom’s bills and cook dinner. And then I got the email- my teacher’s sweet little girl was sick. Now don’t get me wrong- I am not happy about that. If I could have changed it, Kate would be well and I would have had my hectic day. But I can not control those things and I ended up with an unexpected day at home.

Now when these kids hear that class is cancelled, most of them crawl back in bed. While that sounds fabulous, I changed out of my nice clothes from the photo shoot, and got to work! I wrote my paper and submitted it online as instructed. I started my theatre history study guide, I did the laundry, I dusted, vacuumed and then paid all of our bills and Memaw’s bills. I completely cleared my desk, cleaned the kitchen and the bathrooms before balancing all of the sales from this weekend for Tim and then headed to the bank and post office. I came home to a clean house, clean clothes and time to think about a nice dinner before pouring a glass of wine and sitting down to blog.

I know I am a pesky, OCD kind of person who can not sleep if things are not clean, neat and orderly but I have tried to be more laid back lately. I have lived with the dust bunnies in the house and the mounds of mail and papers on my desk. But I am happiest and most relaxed when everything is clean, neat and in the right place. So right now I am exceptionally content which will help me when I go to sleep tonight , which will make me more productive in school tomorrow and will make me better prepared for what the next two weeks hold.

Last week I had two cancelled classes but I knew ahead of time so I scheduled things to fill the time- hair cuts and other appointments. But today was spur of the moment, unexpected free time that I have used to make my life so much better. It is like found time, and trust me- that is better and worth more than finding a twenty dollar bill in your pocket!!

  1. Well, I was glad to get a day to hold my baby.  I used my time wisely  and I’m so glad you got some time to do “Marietta” things 🙂  And Kate is fine now! So it all worked out perfectly.  God’s got a plan.
