New Look, New Possibilities

You might have noticed the new look to my blog. Yesterday was my birthday and I received lots of well wishes, several beautiful cards, some lovely gifts, and a brand new look to my blog. My sweet son Jon spent his off day redesigning and upgrading my blog to better reflect the new direction I am heading in. On Thursday, the day before my birthday, I began a new endeavor as I was named Birmingham’s contributing editor to BroadwayWorld.com! (My son, the journalist, tells me I have to stop with the exclamation points if I am writing professionally! He made me promise before he activated the new blog! Therefore, I can only use exclamation points here and not on BWW [Broadway World] meaning you will see lots of them!)

My first assignment is tomorrow when I go to see and then review Montevallo Main Street Players production of THE GLASS MENAGERIE. Hopefully the review will be up on Monday. With the new blog you can look on the right side of the page and find a link straight to my BWW reviews and interviews. I will continue to blog my personal opinions and what is going on with me at this site, while my BWW writing will be only theatre, dance and music articles. I hope you will follow both!

If you are a director or producer and would like to have your production reviewed, please let me know! If you want me to interview you or a cast member, let me know! I can try to come to final dress rehearsals so the review comes out early enough to help with promotion of that particular show or I can come to a performance and the review will still help promote your company as a whole. I can also forward your press releases to the site, as well as use them for my review research, so send them to me!

I am very excited to have a reason to write even more! I hope to review something every week, although I guess that is a bit optimistic. There is certainly enough theatre in the area for me to stay that busy! I also plan to keep acting, so that might slow me down whenever I take a role. After Labor Day I will start working with The Overflow Foundation, which will bring art, and in my case theatre, to the inner city. (I am hoping some of my theatre friends will come join me sometimes in this endeavor!) All of this is to say, I am so excited to be doing so many fun and exciting things with the degree I worked so hard for, and to feel like I am making a contribution to an art form I love so much!

Keep reading! There is so much more to come!!

  1. I think that last sentence should have no less than THREE exclamation points! And congratulations on all your new and exciting endeavors! I look forward to reading your review of The Glass Menagerie!
