If you asked my guys if they are superstitious, they would probably say no. But let me tell you that they are! They have lots of rituals before sporting events. Many of them started when my son Jon played football in high school and college. I must say I even have a few pregame rituals. But nothing beats their worries about “mojo.” I looked it up and mojo is a magical spell or hex. My guys specifically worry about it bringing bad consequences when they discuss something prematurely. For example, don’t book a room to the championship until it is officially announced or you might cause your team to get locked out somehow. It is bad mojo to think about moving until you have signed the contract for the new job. It is bad mojo to sing the music for a part you want until you definitely have that part.
On the other hand, you have the people who say to put your desires out into the universe so that the universe knows you want that. “Vision boards” were the thing a few years back. You put pictures of where you want your life to go and envision it happening. People swear that things they asked the universe for or envisioned actually happened.
So who is right? My family quietly waiting so as not to have bad mojo or the people who ask, then say they get what they want in life? I decided to step out and ask for what I want for a change. I thought about it a long time before I contacted the person who could give me what I want. It seemed to go alright as far as I can tell. The person I told responded positively, but I have yet to know if I will actually get what I want. I can’t tell you what I asked for because that might bring bad mojo! Oops! Old habits die hard!
